Lounge FAQ

Lounge A and Lounge B are reserved for those who need to use the equipment/facilities available here. Please use the seats at the round tables if you don't require the use of any equipment at the Lounges. Below are some FAQs relating to the use of the Lounges.

 

  • Who can use the Lounge?
    NIE Staff and Students

  • How many members constitute a group?
    6-10 persons.
  • Is advance booking required?
    No, but a group may book a lounge 2 days in advance. Booking should be made at the Media Counter in the Media Resources Room. Groups who wish to use the Lounge without prior booking should also inform the Media Counter Staff who will allocate the Lounge on the spot if it is available.

  • How long can a group use the Lounge?
    Generally, 2 hours. It may be extended if necessary and if there is no booking by other groups.

  • What equipment/facilities are available at the Lounges?
    For Lounge A - Plasma Monitor connected to a Video Cassette Player, DVD/CD/VCD Player, CPU with CD-ROM drive, zip drive, campus network and focus speakers.

    For Lounge B - Plasma Monitor connected to a Video Casette Player, CPU with CD-ROM drive, zip drive, campus network and focus speakers.

    Note: Both plasma monitors are linked and can be used to display the same programme or different programmes.

    A mobile interactive Smart Board and LCD projector (available for loan at the Media Counter) can also be brought to the Lounge to facilitate discussion/project work.
